One Woman's Story
Four years ago Gail was unemployed, newly divorced, struggling with health issues and "not even sure I would be able to support myself."

"I took the Smart Money Essentials course a couple of years ago and even though I was unable to make it to all the classes it really helped me. I didn't realize how much until I stepped through your Debt Free Challenge outline and attempted to answer the questions myself...."


"The Changes I Made Were Significant"
"The changes I made because of the course were significant! I now own a townhouse and am well on the way to paying off my entire debt for new home, car, appliances, special assessments, etc. within 14 years."

In addition, Gail has a vacation fund that "allows me a nice, although not luxurious, annual travelling vacation". She also contributes monthly to her RRSPs. She has paid off all her credit card debt - and has kept it off for the past year. She is now in the process of setting up an emergency savings fund.

"Debt-Free and Financially Secure"
"This means I will be debt-free by retirement; have a nice nest egg which won't be huge, but will allow me a certain amount of financial security; and am still able to enjoy my life today. All this is not something I thought I could achieve since my divorce 4 years ago. I am no spring chicken and have only a limited amount of years to play catch up and now I feel as though I pretty much have. Amazing what you can accomplish with clearly defined goals and a detailed but flexible plan."
