We know you’re busy and have limited time, so we designed the Smart Money Essentials (formerly Build Your Own Financial Plan) Teleclass program to make it as easy as possible for you to participate – from anywhere in Canada.

You get everything you need to create your financial plan along with the guidance and support of our experienced financial planners, Karin & Sheila, without ever having to leave the comfort of your home or office.

What is a teleclass?

A teleclass is an interactive workshop conducted on the telephone via a conference line that connects you with a group of people including your facilitator. You don’t need any special equipment to participate… just a phone!

You might doubt that you will get much out of a program that is run over the phone. You're not alone in thinking that in-person classes are the only way to learn - that is, until you experience the convenience and effectiveness of learning by simply picking up the phone.

The highly interactive format for the class includes lots of information, lively discussion, opportunity for questions and action steps to get you applying what you’ve just learned.

Obviously, the more you participate the more you get out of the call but the choice is entirely yours. You can sit back and absorb the exchanges of others, ask questions for immediate clarification, or engage in the discussion and contribute as much or as little you want.

How does the Smart Money Essentials (formerly Build Your Own Financial Plan) Teleclass program work?

Once you register, we will mail you the learning guide along with a CD with worksheets so you have all the tools you need to start building your own financial plan. We will also send you the details of how to dial in to the teleclasses.

Karin & Sheila will facilitate six 75 minute teleclasses (see program outline) which will give you an opportunity to get advice, ask questions and get the information and support you need to reach your financial goals. Expect to spend 2-3 hours every 2 weeks on the exercises and reading in between the classes.

Teleclasses run every 2nd week over 3 months. You also get a free downloadable audio recording of all the teleclasses within 48 hours of each session. You can then listen in at your convenience in case you miss a class or if you simply want to review any of the classes later.

We know how busy you are so we’ve designed the program to break up complex topics into manageable pieces so you can integrate the information slowly and consistently. That’s why the teleclasses are every 2 weeks so you have time in between the classes to read and integrate the new material, work on the worksheets and be prepared with your questions for the following class.

This way you don’t just get a bunch of information and worksheets that end up sitting on your desk. You get the structure and accountability to help make sure you get organized with your money - once and for all.

Each class follows a similar format – We review the key financial planning concepts that you need to know and the “homework” relating to the session. We also facilitate interactive discussion with lots of time for Q&A, and then go over what you need to do for the next session.
